3. Indications for Use.

The medication can be used for treatment and prevention bleedings, connected with the increase of general and local fibrinolysis, such as: thrombocytopenic purpura, hemophilia, and anti-thrombosis therapy against hemorrhagic aggravation; the blood illness which is connected with the impairment in marrow bone ability to produce three main blood cells types; bleedings during surgeries and in post-surgical period, leucosis, uterine bleeding during childbirth uterine bleeding, uterine bleeding of nose, lung, intestinal bleeding, long-lasting abundant menstruations (lasting longer than 7 days) or irregular menstruations, bloody tissues from the womb during intra-menstrual period (usually of non-intensive character); viral stomatitis; bleeding from lower urinary tract parts; angina, hereditary angiodema, imflammation of mucous membrane of throat and gorge, eczema,hives, allergic dermatitis, rash from drug and toxic.

4. Action

Tranexamic Acid has anti-inflammatory action with blood stopping effect. The medication has the ability to prolong the period of blood clotting. It is also able to slow down the formation of albumins, which consist of numerous amino acids that take part in the development of allergic and inflammatory reactions.

5. Posology and Administration

Careful! The recommendations for use, mentioned here, are not intended for self-administration of the medication, as treatment with Tranexamic Acid has to be initiated by a doctor and done with doctor’s order.
Tranexamic Acid has to be administered orally with or without meals in the dose of 250-500mg, which should be taken 3-4 times per day. In case of treating flood the medication should be administered in the dose of 1-1.5g, taken 3-4 times during the day for a period of 3-4 days. For treatment of recurrent bleedings of nose the medication has to be taken in dose of 1g for three times a day for a period of one week. For treatment in post-surgical conditions, such as recoval or part of womb neck, the medication should be taken in dose of 1.5g for three times a day for a period of 12 days to 2 weeks. Patients with dysfunction of coagulation of blood should take the medication before having tooth extraction in the dose of 25mg per 1 kilo of weight for 3-4 times per day. The treatment for this case should start one day before the surgery and keep until 6-8 days after the surgery. For treatment of hereditary adngiodema Tranexamic Acid has to be administered orally in dose of 1-1.5g per intake, taken 2-3 times per day. It can be taken continuously or discontinuously, depending on symptoms of the disease. When using the medication for treatment of patients with disorders of excretory functions of kidneys there is a need to correct dose regimen. If concentration of creatinine in blood is 120-250 micro mole/liter -  15 mg/kg taken two times a day; 250-500 micro mole/l taken in single-shot – one time a day; more than 500 micro mole/l - 7.5 mg/kg taken one time a day.

6. Counterindications

Effusion of blood, caused by aneurism rupture, hypersensitivity, kidneys failure, thromboembolic syndrome, deep venous thrombosis, myocardial infarction, periods of pregnancy and breast-feeding, color-vision defect.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

It is necessary to lower both doses and repetition factor for treatment of patients with renal insufficiency. It is necessary to have monitoring of ophthalmologist in the process of treatment and after the end of treatment, in order to check margins, acuity, color-vision, and monitor eye grounds for several days. In case of treatment of hematuria of renal genesis there is a growing risk of mechanical anuria, caused by the formation of clotting in the urethra.

8. Interface with Other Medications

You should not take any medications in process of treatment with Tranexamic Acid without having order of a doctor. There is a high risk of having adverse side effects and possibility of seriously damaging health in case of such combinations.

9. Overdosing

There is no concrete information about getting overdosed, but there is a high risk of having enhancement of side effects. If you have taken a big dose of the medication, it is necessary to look for medical help immediately.

10. Side Effects

Nausea, anorexia, vomit, dizziness, diarrhea, weakness, tachycardia, drowsiness, pain in the chest, disorder of color vision, lowering of arterial tension (caused by a rapid intravenous introduction), allergic reactions of skin.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

Tranexamic Acid is not recommended during pregnancy. It is recommended to avoid breast-feeding during treatment.

12. Driving

Ability to drive vehicles during treatment with Tranexamic Acid should be assessed individually. It is possible to drive vehicles if no serious side effects develop and if the result of treatment with Tranexamic Acid is positive.
